This time of year can be kind of depressing with the cold and dreariness and all. We are now past the holidays and still have quite a ways to go until spring break. Nothing but the daily grind for the near future. Ugh! It all makes me want to veg out on the beach in some place like Grand Cayman.
My wife and I went to Grand Cayman as part of our honeymoon cruise a few years ago. If you’ve never been, it is an absolutely beautiful place – a true Caribbean paradise! Nice beaches and clear water. And to make it all better, it is a relatively prosperous place without the poverty and third world feel of Jamaica and lots of other Caribbean destinations. You’d think you were still in the United States if it weren’t for the clean water and people driving on the wrong side of the road. I think the highlight of our visit was our excursion where we snorkeled and swam with the stingrays. They will bring you out to a sandbar where the stingrays will come right up to you and let you feed and kiss them. They are extremely docile, with the worst thing that could happen is stepping on their tail where the stinger is.
Anyway, that’s where I want to go. So what’s your getaway dream right now? Looking for flights to Hong Kong? Your dream right now may be “anywhere from here”, but where do you want to be?
My wife and I had a similar experience in Antigua. Though we’ll probably go back at some point, I wouldn’t mind at all if we were there right now.
