Those of you in other parts of the country might think this is lame, but it is almost time for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo again. For those of you who don’t live around here let me assure you that this is more than just a bunch of cowboys and farm animals! Arguably the biggest draw to the rodeo is the musical acts. The musical lineup is dominated by country acts (I won’t go so far as to call it music, but to each his own) like Rascal Flatts and Faith Hill, but there are a few non-country acts such as Fergie, John Fogerty, and Hannah Montana. Of course it is a rodeo, so there are rodeo events before the musical acts which are actually quite entertaining in their own right.
I have been to the Rodeo twice under very different circumstances. The first time we had use of our firm’s suite at the rodeo (it is held in Reliant Stadium) and got to watch Rascal Flatts and the rodeo events beforehand in the lap of luxury while being waited on hand and foot. While I didn’t care for the musical act, it was still an awesome experience.
The second trip to the rodeo was when I took my wife to go see John Fogerty. We were paying for these seats ourselves, so we were in the upper deck. Surprisingly we still had a great view of the rodeo events and the concert. John Fogerty was awesome and put on a great show, even if he is somewhere around 100.
We aren’t planning on going this year since it is kind of difficult to find someone to watch infant twins, but I would highly recommend the Rodeo to anyone else. It is a truly entertaining and unique experience. Houston Rodeo concert tickets are still available for many of the shows in a variety of prices. If you’ve never been I’d highly recommend it.
