Happy Day! My Lawn Guys Came Back!

Put this one in the category of good luck. It is March again, and here in Texas that means the grass (and weeds) are growing again. Since we moved into our house in 2005, we have always used the same lawn service which charged us the dirt cheap rate of $20 to cut, edge, and weed-eat out yard. Because of this dirt cheap rate and the fact this is our first home, we do not own any lawn equipment except a few shovels and other assorted garden tools.

Unfortunately we lost the lawn service’s phone number (most of these outfits, including this one, aren’t listed in the phone book or anything like that) and had to start seeking out another service. The first one we called gave us a quick estimate of $35, and missed the appointment to come out and verify the estimate and do the initial mow. The second one we called couldn’t make it out here when we were here, but did drive by and give us an estimate of $25.

We had scheduled the second one to come out and do the work tomorrow, but lucky for us our old guys showed up this morning asking if we still wanted to use them. As they are still charging us the $20 rate, we said heck yeah, and they are working out in the lawn as I write this post. They have always done a great job for us at a great rate and show up like clockwork on Friday mornings to do the work, so we are extremely happy they came back.

So what is the lesson from this whole thing? I guess the obvious is to make sure you keep the numbers for service providers you really like in a safe place. Sadly it is so hard to find quality dependable service, so once you do find someone you like don’t lose them just because you didn’t bother to keep up with the number.
