While many are now talking about investing in gold and other precious metals, others seem to be investing in other metals. As said my one of my readers dubbed Amazing Larry, “I too have been buying alot of metal recently, but mostly just copper-jacketed lead“. Yes, Virginia, Larry is talking about ammunition!
As people are driven by the fear of what radical measures may be taken against gun rights by the Obama administration and what civil unrest and criminal activity may result from the ever-worsening economic conditions, ammunition supplies have been flying off store shelves. If you don’t believe me, take a look at any of the online ammunition sellers or at the shelves at your local sporting goods store or Wal-Mart. Online sites show most types of ammo to be on backorder or out of stock, and store shelves are so barren you expect to see a ball of tumbleweed blow past you. I even saw in some online forums discussion of some popular calibers of ammo being sold out at gun shows! Even people whose entire business is selling ammunition and guns can’t keep up with the demand!
Just something to think about. As they say, prepared for the worst but hope for the best.
